Vian Hussein practicing visual art in many different forms from Roj Ava (Afreen) based in Britain.
Vian studies interior design at one of the branches of architecture in England where she began her art career.
Vian draws her inspiration from human suffering and the struggle for survival and existence in the midst of wars and conflicts in her work, where her journey in asylum was one of the reasons for her inspiration in art, by which she began to express her experience and herself through work in sculpture and painting

Through art, Vian aims to highlight the effects of war, displacement and conflicts on communities and civil zones and their impact on the individual, and to highlight the role of Kurdish women in society through her paintings. The impact of her study in architecture and interior decor also has a clear influence on her sculpture works close to mostly geometric abstraction

The artist Sherihan from Afrin city currently residing in Germany, studied art at the Fathi Muhammad Institute of Arts in Aleppo alongside her university studies at the Faculty of Arts, Department of Philosophy.
Being descended from the city of Afrin with beautiful details and beautiful nature, she was initially influenced by her drawing of nature and the bottom of the seas and fish. While she was contemplating these beautiful subjects, she noticed the presence of intruding elements made by humans distorting these details and was affected by them, so she moved with her artistic experience from drawing beauty to the embodiment of the ugliness caused by the debris and the resulting abuses. About the behavior of some categories of people.
So, as the artist Sherihan says, moved to what is called aesthetics of ugliness, which is a contradictory artistic style that deliberately abandons beauty and harmony as an idea and instead focuses on chaotic ideas and irregularities and portraying them as beautiful works of art through color and technique, and the goal of this is to evoke an emotional reaction in the recipient and create a state of an illogical contradiction .
And in this regard a quote about beauty by the German philosopher Kant (that beauty in nature means that there is something beautiful, while beauty in art is a beautiful representation of something) i.e. that what is ugly and provocative we can love and admire when we see it photographed through work A beautiful piece of art .
Artist Shreehan completes the topics of accumulation and stacking things and waste on top of each other, the aim of this is to highlight the problems created by our consumer communities that produce more and more resources that exceed our needs without thinking how they affect the environmental balance.

I have practiced art since childhood and received certificates of appreciation and first place in the country at the age of 14 years ...
My works reflect the current reality of suffering from war and displacement, and women are an important part of my paintings, as they are giving, love and spring, and all my paintings bear the Kurdish character through a symbol that tells stories from Kurdish history or the rich color taken from heritage and the cheerful Kurdish spring.. My relationship with colors is a love relationship that began since I knew that the rainbow is the fruit of love between the sun and the rain.. The sky is colored after a dark night, and with my colors I can draw the mothers' loaf of bread and the children's smile, a coat and a bite for a trembling poor person and a crutch for fathers who are exhausted by the bitterness of life ...

The reason for my refusal to hold a private or joint exhibition was because my works were donated to charitable works for poor, needy and sick families for the Kurds of Rojava
My first solo exhibition was in Erbil Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture... My goal is to spread the culture and history of my country and my happiness is to reach people's hearts and leave a beautiful and purposeful impact on a more beautiful, free and just life.

 Shilan graduated from  Institute of fine art ,  in Sulaymaniyah in 1996-1997, then joined the College of Fine Arts, but she could not continue her studies due to her special circumstances in Kurdistan. She later moved to Germany and settled in Berlin.

I graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Department in 2020, but I was not interested in engineering as much as I was interested in visual arts since I was young. I was very interested in fine arts and I was training on them all the time to reach my own style and imprint in this field.

I have been working in a symbolic expressionist style since 2018 and since then I have devoted myself to visual arts.

My paintings have a tragic character similar to the life I live in the Syrian war, but there is always hope in them that I express in a symbolic way. I rely on the method of sequential paintings, as at each stage a certain idea occupies me and I implement it on a series of paintings. Which I consider an integrated project. My projects include: (“Portrait of Women of War”. Woman and Rope”, “Woman and the City”), but now I am working on a project called “Contradictions” which I consider a long-term project in which I simulate the contradictions that a person experiences in the midst of war, the conflict imposed on him by borders and destruction, the conflict between belonging and non-belonging, between continuity and adapting to circumstances... I use symbols that simulate the subject such as the fish, the apple and the key, and generally these symbols are a collage added to the painting or an original that I make using color.

The expressive form of the woman that I draw is not just a woman, but rather a form through which I express what I want to express about the human conditions, problems and contradictions that he lives within these closed borders.

I participated in many exhibitions in Syria, virtual exhibitions and an exhibition in the Kurdistan Region.

I dream that the borders will be erased and that we will live in freedom of movement without siege, and I dream that the war will end and that every displaced person will return to his land.
